Creating Access Roles

One of the most essential pieces of setting up your new JForce CRM / PM is the access roles. This is what will define what users have the ability to see. This can become somewhat overwhleming, so we hope the examples below with pictures and documentation will help you understand that it's not very hard at all!

General

This screen allows you to set the global access privileges.

  • System Access means they are allowed to login to the Joomla! frontend.
  • Can See Private Objects allows the user role to see items that have been marked in the system as private.
  • Can See File Repository will allow the user role to access the files located in the document repository (defined in the general configuration) when creating documents in JForce.
  • Can Assign means that this user role will be able to assign items to other users.
  • Can View Reports means that this user role can access the reports plugin
  • Can Access Messages means this user role has access to the messaging center of JForce

System

This screen allows you to define system level access for the user role. Important things to note on this screen include:

  • Project means they can see the overall list of projects as defined here
  • Assignments Only means that the user role will only have access to the items that have been assigned to them
  • Has Access means that this user role can access all items in that object
  • Can Create means that this user role can create new items within that object type
  • Can Manage means that this user role can edit and delete items within that object type

Project

The same rules that applied to the system tab apply here as well. These rules however only apply within a specific project.
